Straddling two worlds.

At this point in my process I still straddle (and perhaps blur) the lines between impressionistic landscapes and abstractions. I enjoy the color play of one and the dynamicism of the other. I am painting with an urgency focused on the imagery that will soon need to make way to further exploration of the further capability of the materials. I know I love glazing but while I have been working plein air I have dealing with my immediate response to the ephemeral nature of life. We will see if glazing, which will enhance the richness of my colors, will soon be added to the process.
I have two solo shows scheduled this summer. One in Manchester, Vermont and the other at the Salem Art Works in upstate NY. Manchester will host the more impressionistic work, Salem wants the abstractions. In Salem, given close to 1000 running feet of wall space, I hope to be engineering a work in progress, preferring to involve the community in some of the process.
I have executed approximately 60 pieces since October and am as excited now as I was in the Fall so I am beginning a gallery search to carry my works year-round. I have gone beyond any question as to my dedication to my work. While some pieces are quite small, some are creeping up in size for I still love working large. While the small works allow me to paint quick impressions, the larger works will push me to complicate my imagery some and further play with great paint possibilities and color layering. Totally looking forward to that.
So stay in tune and check in regularly. Please feel free to leave comments
